Washington State University is developing a breathalyzer that detects marijuana, and researchers for the project are hoping volunteers will step up for the sake of science and technology and provide their services. They're asking people to smoke marijuana -- for science!

I have a feeling there'll be no shortage of volunteers for this project.

You must be 21 years old and be a resident of Pullman, Washington. They'll run a couple of tests, including a mouth swab and blood test, and then let the volunteers buy their marijuana of choice and smoke it at home. Then a taxi will pick up the volunteers to take them in for more testing.

In Washington state, drivers can be charged with a DUI if they have five nanograms of active THC in their system. This testing is to look into a breathalyzer-type device for testing this.

Several Northwest news sites including KREM-TV have been covering this story. I just thought it was funny that they were looking for volunteers to smoke pot. I'm sure they'll have what they need after this.
