Zoo Fined after taking Bear for Ice Cream

Berkley the bear got a nice treat & Discovery Wildlife Park in Alberta, Canada got a nice ticket! A wildlife park has been fined after forgetting to tell police they were taking their bear to Dairy Queen for ice cream. According to the Canadian Press, the authorities (fish & wildlife) are suppose to be notified before an animal is moved off of the zoo grounds, something that park owners Doug Bos & Debbie Rowland had been "busy" and made the mistake of not informing them. They were charged under section 12(3) of the Wildlife Act.

"We have been in operation for over 28 years and this is the first time that we have failed to notify Fish & Wildlife before taking an animal off-site. We appreciate that Fish & Wildlife follow these high standards to ensure the best care and well-being of the animals in our care. We will pay our fine and have already instituted changes to our protocols and put them into practice to ensure that these notifications are done every time without fail." Zoo owners commented on Social Media & Sky News.
