The Executive Director of the Yakima Union Gospel Mission says he's proud of his staff for being able to prevent a big outbreak of COVID-19 at the facility. Mike Johnson says currently five people have tested positive for the virus. Two people, including one staff member are hospitalized in good condition. Three other people living in the Mission's transitional housing unit are quarantined and he says there's been no secondary transmissions reported.  Five cases at the mission, says Johnson isn't considered an outbreak and he says so far they haven't seen any outbreaks at the mission.

Johnson says they expected to see a number of cases and even deaths at the beginning of the pandemic but he says that never happened and he attributes that to the hard work of staff making sure things are cleaned and that rules are being followed.
