**USDA wants input about how to push unemployed, able-bodied adults who get Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits into the workforce.

According to Agri-Pulse, the department’s Food and Nutrition Service wants input “on potential policy, program, and regulatory changes that could advance its goal of addressing food insecurity by helping able-bodied SNAP recipients obtain and maintain employment.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the administration’s goal is to encourage SNAP beneficiaries to become economically independent.

**At current prices, grain farmers are unlikely to make money if the record-high yields of 2017 retreat to average levels.

That’s according to University of Illinois economist Gary Schnitkey who says growers have faced a similar combination before and "that resulted in zero income in 2015."

Schnitkey tells Agriculture.com looking ahead, it will be "very hard to generate positive cash flow" absent higher yields or higher commodity prices.
