Eddie Vedder Covered the Beatles’ ‘Blackbird’ Too (and Pearl Jam Didn’t Break Up Either)
Whether prompted by Dave Grohl's cover of the Beatles' "Blackbird" at the Oscars last weekend or just happy coincidence, Pearl Jam posted a video of Eddie Vedder playing his own delicate rendition in 2008.
The footage comes from the concert film Water on the Road, which documents Vedder on a solo tour. Vedder also recently contributed a cover of the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" for the Netflix animated series Beat Bugs.
Of course, Grohl's solo performance of "Blackbird" at the Oscars helped fuel rumors that Foo Fighters were breaking up – which the band soon shot down in hilarious fashion. Compare and contrast Vedder's version (above) with Grohl's (below).
