Filter were ready to perform at the Sticky Fingers club in Gothenberg, Sweden this evening (June 13), but the show was canceled just prior after the band received a death threat.

The group took the threat seriously, and posted on Facebook that they would not be performing. Apparently the cancellation came fairly close to the start of the show as fans had already entered the venue at the time of the announcement. The reason for the death threat was not revealed and only minimal details have been announced. Check out the posting below.

While no reason or motive was given for the death threat, over the weekend Filter expressed their sorrow over the horrific shooting at a gay nightclub that claimed the lives of 50 people in Orlando. In response, the band posted commentary sharing their support of the LGBTQ community. In addition, they posted video of a performance of their song "Pride Flag" as it was sung in North Carolina as a statement against the state's HB2 bathroom bill. Frontman Richard Patrick, a big gun control proponent, also shared a pair of political posts from Occupy Democrats on social media, as well. Check out all the postings below.

Filter released their new album, Crazy Eyes, back in April. The disc includes the single "Take Me to Heaven" as well as the preview track "Mother E." The band is currently touring Europe with Combichrist and Lord of the Lost. Dates can be found here.
