
Yakima Honors 146 Overdose Deaths at 9th Annual Awareness Day

AUGUST 29 OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY
Triumph Treatment Services is hosting the 9th annual International Overdose Awareness Day to remember people who have been lost to drug overdose. A press release says the event will bring together caring community members and speakers who will share their stories and helpful resources. Everyone is invited August 29 at Sarg Hubbard Park for the free event. The event will start at 10 am to honor those
lost and come together to help prevent these tragedies in the future.

THE LARSON BUILDING LIT
A press release says to commemorate those who have died, Triumph Treatment Services will light up the A.E. Larson Building (6 S 2nd St, Yakima) in purple from August 27 to August 31. They say the purple light on the building represents "the shared sadness and the commitment to stand by each other."
A MAJOR CRISIS
Overdose deaths are a major crisis not only in Yakima but all over the state. Last year Yakima saw a record 146 people die of drug overdoses. So far this year 67 people have lost thier lives because of overdoses. They'll be remembered on August 29.

11:00-1:00 pm: Program featuring speakers who have experienced an overdose, lost friends and family, or are
working to help save lives.
1:00-2:00 pm: Sweet Treat Social with activities including a memory wall tribute and more.
