Yakima Braces For The First 90-degree Day Of Summer
Is it hot enough for you?
Don't you just wanna slap someone for saying that sometimes?
It's a phrase I don't think people use as much as they used to.
And, around Yakima, we should be accustom to the weather patterns around this time of year.
On that note, I've noticed the older I get the more I appreciate the hot weather. When I was in school I was completely intolerant to it. I remember being that kid in the middle of winter not wearing my coat. Others may ask where it was and I'd casually say 'at home' as I didn't need one. I totally get it.
Yakima's first 90 degree day
And, no, it has nothing to do with right angles.
According to the Weather Channel, Yakima's first 90 degree day is slated for June 11.
The day after, June 12, it should also be 90. Or even a little over 90 on both days.
What to expect with hot temperatures in Yakima
Well, the first thing you'll notice is people complaining how hot it is. That's obvious.
You may also notice people driving worse.
I know, right? How could drivers drive worse in Yakima. Oh, trust me, they'll find a way. For some reason, hotter temperatures bring out worse drivers. More aggressive and wanting to get home quicker, probably. Anything to get out of the sun.
You can also expect more and more people buying pre-bagged ice and drinks from mini marts. Nothing wrong with that.
Also, usually when it gets pretty warm, the drive-thru line at Dairy Queen seems to back up more than usual. Yes, there are plenty of places to get ice cream on the go, but that one stretches out to the street sometimes.
Not too long after we'll have our first 100 degree day, but more on that closer to time.
