After 54 years it's time to say Ciao or goodbye to Gasperetti's restaurant in Yakima. The owner John Gasperetti announced the closure on a Facebook post Sunday saying the last few years have been a struggle for the business because of as he describes it the continual deterioration of North First Street and the increasing homeless population. That coupled with the recent COVID-19 pandemic helped Gasperetti make his final decision. He says it was made with a heavy heart.
In the Facebook post he says the restaurant was able to host everyone from the President to movie stars but the most important guests were the people of the Yakima Valley. Gasperetti says while he has some opportunities in the works he's taking time off now to reflect with sadness and joy.

Facebook;
"It is with a heavy heart the I announce that Gasperetti’s Restaurant after a 54years run is closed.
The last few years have been tough with the continual deterioration of North First Street and the increasing homeless population followed by COVID have contributed to this decision .

We have been fortunate enough to have served a past President and First Lady ... movie stars .. writers and people from all of the entertainment world. However the most important guests have always been you.. the people of our valley .

When I was young and starting out it was my sister Jean and Vi Goodrich as first waitress and my mom as hostess , dad and myself in kitchen. Shortly after that Brad Patterson came into our life and the rest is history .

I will miss working with so many wonderful people. Some have been with me for years one for over 30 years .
They truly made Gasperetti’s the success it became .. They were all like family .

For the future ? I have a few opportunities in the works but for now I leave tomorrow for Bainbridge to relax and reflect with sadness and joy.

Stay tuned! As the old saying goes...”when one door closes another door opens up.”

So until then I say to you the people of Yakima ... Thank You !!
The flood of so many years of wonderful memories I will carry with me forever.❤️"
