The M's introduced their latest big salary free agent acquisition Thursday at Seattle's Safeco Field.

Cruz signed a four-year, $58 million contract and likely hit between the left-handed bats of second baseman Robinson Cano and third baseman Kyle Seager in Seattle's lineup.

"I'm here to win," Cruz said. "We have one of the best starting pitchers and one of the best bullpens in the game. I think with my bat and the guys we have we should go a long way."

After missing the playoffs by one game in 2014, the Mariners are hoping that Cruz can provide the necessary offense to add more wins to the M's total in 2015.

"It's no secret the last few years we needed offense," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "We're ecstatic that he's a member of our organization. I think when you look at the addition of Robinson Cano last year and Nelson Cruz this year, it certainly addresses some of the needs we've talked about."
