FOX’s upfront announcements have come and gone, cementing that The X-Files won’t return for another round just yet, even if its revival season cliffhanger left off on a pretty urgent note. David Duchovny has his own opinions on what a new season would need, but Gillian Anderson says FOX hasn’t even so much as inquired about her availability.

FOX’s The X-Files revival still has but two standalone hours to go before returning to a mythology focus in time for its final, cliffhanger-y episode of 2016, but why wait? Lucky as we were to get a second season of NBC's 'Hannibal' for its moderate ratings, doubts began to creep early on as opposing projects seemed to pull away more prominent guest stars like Gillian Anderson of 'The X-Files' and Raul Esparza of 'Law & Order.'
