Space Needle

As part of the Seattle Mariners weekend-long celebration of Ken Griffey, Jr.'s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame almost two weeks ago, "The Kid" kicked-off the first of many tributes by raising a gigantic flag bearing his old jersey number 24 atop the iconic Space Needle earlier today.

My nephew Nic flew up from California to check out Seattle for the first time this weekend and we did the typical touristy things... on a budget. So for instance, we went to the Space Needle to take a ride to the top... until we realized it was going to cost 22 frickin' dollars...

The city of Seattle is once again brimming with excitement as the specter of another Super Bowl appearance looms. Friday, the city's most recognizable landmark, the Space Needle, will again show its support by hoisting a massive blue 12 banner.

Recent photos have surfaced showing an unidentified young man illegally climbing such Seattle high rises as Safeco Field, Centurylink Field and the Space Needle. Authorities have questioned their authenticity. Until now.

Seattle’s iconic landmark, the Space Needle may get the go ahead next week to add three glass floored viewing platforms so visitors could look straight down.
