Doesn't matter if "ho-ho-ho" or "ooh-rah" gets you rolling, this Saturday (Dec. 10) is the day to answer the call for Christmas during the Give a Toy, Get a Ticket Event.
What a fantastic day it was for the United States Marine Corps, Toys R Us and all the kiddos who stopped by to check out the military vehicles and equipment. People came in droves to donate new, unwrapped toys as Toys For Tots kicked off this year's campaign.
Trunk Or Treat at Steve Hahn's was a complete success. We ran out of candy at 7 p.m. and people were still coming. So we had to run out and buy more! Apple bobbing, a "haunted shop," music and dancing made the night!
As usual, the United States Marine Corps showed up first.
And come Christmas, a whole lot of Yakima Valley kids will be glad they did.
But the Marines weren't the only ones who rolled into Steve Hahn Volkswagen-Kia-Mercedes Benz for the sake of this year's Toys for Tots drive Friday morning...
Friday, December 11th at 6am the United States Marine Corps will be hanging out at 1st and Mead with their M 1 A 1 tank. Every year the USMC and 94.5 KATS-FM, 92.9 The Bull, 1073 KFFM, News-talk 1280 KIT, 1460 ESPN and Mega 99.3 teams up with Steve Hahn Volkswagen, KIA and Mercedes Benz of Yakima to gather up as much money and toys as we can for 'Toys For Tots' foundation.
The United States Marine Corps has been doing Toys For Tots since 1947, when a United States Marine Reservist and his wife started making handmade toys for children whose families could not afford anything for Christmas! And Toys for Tots continues to grow today.
