The Black Keys have donated their song, ‘Howlin’ for You’ -- a song that appeared on their 2010 album, ‘Brothers’ -- to PETA for use in an ad promoting animal adoption. The spot features owners sweetly playing with their pets as the Ohio rockers’ song plays, concluding with the message: “Someone’s howlin’ for you at your local shelter. Please adopt.” Watch the new ad up above.

In a press release, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney added, “If you’re looking for a furry roommate, check out an animal shelter. They’re filled with purebreds and mutts who’d love to be adopted.”

Carney and Dan Auerbach’s generous donation comes after the band has famously sued companies in the past for using their songs in advertising without the duo’s consent.
