USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service will accept ACEP applications to help productive farm and ranch lands remain in agriculture and to protect the nation's critical wetlands and grasslands, home to diverse wildlife and plant species. NRCS will provide financial and technical assistance through the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program. The 2014 Farm Bill consolidated three previous conservation easement programs into ACEP to make it easier for diverse agricultural landowners to fully benefit from conservation initiatives.

California Governor Jerry Brown is defending his actions to allow ag producers in the state to use more water saying quote: “Some people have a right to more water than others.” Since issuing the state-wide order to reduce water consumption by 25% last week he has come under fire but Brown’s administration sees urban and agricultural water systems as two fundamentally different things. And he defends agriculture by saying that they’re providing most of the fruits and vegetables of America.
