The Yakima Health District has started a search for a new Health Officer. On Tuesday Dr. Teresa Everson announced her resignation from the district citing personal reasons. She'll continue to serve as the health officer until November 20.
She joined the Yakima Health District in 2018 and served through the current COVID-19 pandemic. According to a news release "with her experience and expertise, Dr. Everson worked in collaboration with Washington State Department of Health on statewide guidance and procedures for agriculture workers, long-term care facilities, testing strategies, safe school reopening, and many other topics such as wildfire smoke safety."
Yakima Health District officials say they'll now begin a search for an interim replacement.
