Nirvana could quite possibly be the greatest '90s grunge rock band that ever lived. They paved the way for many rock bands and helped the Seattle scene out incredibly. But where did these guys get their name? Most of you may know, but I only recently learned what the word meant and I had to share. Considering the events that have happened in the lives of Curt Cobain, Dave Grohl and the rest of the band, it's ironic that they named themselves Nirvana.

Nirvana is an Indian word associated with Buddhism:

In the Buddhist context nirvana refers to the imperturbable stillness of mind after the fires of desire, aversion, and delusion have been finally extinguished.[2] In Hindu philosophy, it is the union with the divine ground of existence Brahman (Supreme Being) and the experience of blissful egolessness.[7] Wiki

Now that Curt is gone, do we ponder the thought that maybe he really did kill himself, or did he have Courtney Love do it for him to solidify his legendary status or give true meaning to the word "Nirvana?"
