Seattle has been built on some amazing sports teams, the Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Supersonics, Sounders, Seattle Storm, and at one time The Metropolitans. Sports are a true passion of the people of Washington and we've wanted a hockey team for a long time...

There's a saying that goes something like, "The sun doesn't shine on the same dog's behind every day". Basically, one can't expect to have everything go in their favor all the time. My 16 year-old son, Drew, is putting that adage to the test.

Having recently turned 50 years old, the milestone birthday has not fallen lightly on me. Even though it has been just over a month, there are a couple of things that, almost overnight, vaulted to the top of my "Big Book of Things That Are Important" list.

Baseball is back and I couldn't be happier.

While it seemingly took forever for former Seattle Mariners great Edgar Martinez to finally be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, it was even longer than that when Gar paid a visit to Yakima the summer following his retirement from baseball.

Prior to yesterday's home opener for the Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton - a native of Canada nicknamed "Big Maple" - was the target of an American Bald Eagle that may have taken umbrage to a foreigner on the diamond of America's National Pastime.

My beloved Seattle Mariners now have the distinction of being the professional sports franchise that has the longest playoff drought. That is why when I saw this t-shirt for sale, I couldn't break out my debit card fast enough!

Saturday afternoon, I took my wife and son to the Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field with tickets that I won from my insurance agent Ginger Brewer-Tyler. To say that the stubs were the only thing we got for free that day would be a MASSIVE understatement!

As part of their 40th anniversary celebration, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have announced that they will close out their North American tour this summer in Seattle at SafeCo Field on August 19th.
