The Seattle Seahawks have been busy during the free agency period, re-signing a key special teams player. And is a new deal for quarterback Russell Wilson close?

Long snapper Clint Gresham announced a new contract with Seattle via Twitter on Friday.

Gresham's new deal is reportedly a three-year contract worth $2.7 million with a $300,000 signing bonus.

Several sources are saying that a new contract for quarterback Russell Wilson is very close.

ESPN's Terry Blount told a Seattle radio station on Friday that it could be soon.

“From what I’ve been told they’re very close, they’re just trying to make sure every single thing is in place before they go forward with this,” Blount said on Friday. “I think it’s going to be bigger and crazier and different from what any contract has ever been.”

What does "bigger and crazier mean?" Reports are that the deal could be for less money than the $22 million-per-year contract that the league's top-paid quarterback, Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers, plays under. But there's word that Wilson's new deal could be fully guaranteed, something that doesn't happen in the NFL, where an injury could end a player's career in an instant.

Guaranteed deals are the norm in Major League Baseball, and former baseball star Wilson could blaze a trail in the NFL, taking slightly less money on average to stay in Seattle (say around $15 million per year). That would free up salary-cap space for Seahawks GM John Schneider to spend on other important players, like All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner who, like Wilson, is also entering the final year of his rookie contract.
