Throw on your silly faces and pull out your black drumsticks, it’s time for 10 Unforgettable Lars Ulrich Moments!

For over three decades, Lars Ulrich has been the percussive anchor of metal’s most commercially successful act, Metallica. He’s been both praised and criticized for his drumming and personal conduct, so we’ve explored the entire Ulrich spectrum in this Loud List.

You’ll see Ulrich’s famous freakout at bandmate James Hetfield in the acclaimed documentary Some Kind of Monster, along with an unintentionally side-splitting PSA from when Ulrich was at war with Napster.

Some of Lars’ more lighthearted moments are featured here too, like when he joked around with fans about St. Anger’s infamous snare sound. We also included a heartwarming moment when Ulrich signed a fan’s Metallica-themed prosthetic leg before inviting him to watch the thrashers perform from the stage.

With Deep Purple’s 2016 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we included a portion of Lars’ impassioned speech about Purple where he questioned the Rock Hall’s hesitance to induct the iconic band for so many years.
