Rock and metal largely operate under the radar of the mainstream eye. The demonization of groups has emanated from media coverage surrounding negative events where an artist is often misrepresented or misunderstood as news anchors and analysts mistake image and lyrics for something conveniently fitting within the confines of their narrative.

Unfortunately, the finger is often pointed toward rock and metal groups in the wake of tragedy with Marilyn Manson infamously enduring a firestorm following the Columbine shooting in April of 1999. The killers were fans of Manson, even dressing in a similar fashion to the industrial shock rocker, which naturally intertwined his name with the mass murder.

In a separate event, Judas Priest's Rob Halford found himself defending vocal inflections on the song "Better By You, Better Than Me," a cover of a Spooky Tooth song which appeared on Stained Class. Halford testified in court that the song did not contain subliminal messages that said "do it" which allegedly caused one fan to take his own life.

We're not going to give away everything in this Loud List, but you can get more background on both of the previously mentioned events and more in the video above!
