I've been watching Jeopardy! for decades. Even when I was a little boy back in the late 60's and early 70's when Art Fleming was the host. Obviously being part of the "cool crowd" was never a pre-requisite. The contestants on Jeopardy! are generally braniacs who own the businesses the people in the cool crowd end up working for. They still get laid but not because they're impossibly good looking or suave but because they have MONEY!

Alex Trebek has been the host of the 2nd generation of Jeopardy! since 1984 so you'd think he'd have a pretty keen idea of whom his contestants are... high I.Q. types that wear pen protectors and sensible shoes that can answer the most esoteric questions about things that most of us didn't even know were things. I for one am jealous of their intellect. I think of myself as a fairly intelligent person but I don't hold a candle to most Jeopardy! contestants... at least not the winners. I'd do well is some categories but not well enough to win an episode.

That's why it shocked me that Alex Trebek took the opportunity to talk smack to a contestant who declared her love for "Nerdcore Rap" where the rappers rhyme about video games, science fiction and their lack of, ahem... personal relations. What Trebek says next is hysterically funny... if you're not a nerd. Otherwise it's very very wrong. Yep, I'm still snickering after watching it for the 50th time, Lol. Watch the video and decide for yourself. I wonder however if the normally buttoned-down Trebek is going to suffer any long term repercussions with the Jeopardy! audience as a result.
