Avalanche danger is high throughout the state of Washington as heavy snow and warming temperatures have created very dangerous conditions for drivers through mountain passes Monday.  Snoqualmie, Stevens and White Passes are closed as crews assess the avalanche danger.
The Northwest Avalanche Center has issued a warning;

I-90 INCLUDING SNOQUALMIE PASS AND ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE
CASCADES FROM THE CANADIAN BORDER TO LAKE CHELAN AND AGAIN FROM
SOUTH OF I-90 TO THE COLUMBIA RIVER.

* WHEN...IN EFFECT THROUGH 6:00 PM PST MONDAY.
IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW, STRONG WINDS, AND WARMING TEMPERATURES WILL
CREATE VERY DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY
THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE CASCADE MOUNTAINS. AVALANCHES WILL RUN AT
ALL ELEVATIONS.

As passes are closed so to are ski areas and other services at pass level. The White Pass Ski area closed shortly after 5:00 p.m. Sunday as skiers and snowboarders left the mountain and a large rock stopped traffic along the pass. No injuries were reported but the large rock and other debris forced the closure of the pass. The ski area plans to reopen on Tuesday.

Crews are working to reopen mountain passes. There's no estimated time when the crews will open passes but we expect an update at 9:00 a.m.
