What Is A Block Watch

We all keep hearing how crime is up and in some cases way up in America's major cities. We also hear that police forces are smaller and recruiting new officers is more difficult than ever...so isn't the Block Watch concept just what they need?

Block Watch is a group of neighbors that band together to watch out for each other and to report crime, suspicious activity, and serious code violations on their street. It’s getting people educated on what to report and how to report it, and working with the police to focus on the concerns that they and their neighbors share, like a drug house, car prowls, break-ins, and more on which Block Watch can focus.

Block Watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime and reduce fear. Criminals operate by creating fear and isolating neighbors - Block Watch brings neighbors together and fights the fear, as well as improving relationships between communities and police.

We'll leave it to others to speculate if big city neighbors can push past their fears but we do know that Block Watches do work pretty well in small town America...like Moxee, Washington.

Frre Family Fun Night Helps fight Crime

Moxee City Block Watch is excited to present a FREE family Community Event at Moxee City Park, this Friday! Again, the way Block Watch works is by neighbors getting to know more about each other and building respect and trust...Moxee has found a fun way to do just that.

From 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, the Party in the Park will include FREE hot dogs, apples, chips & drinks. There will also be onsite demonstrations with law enforcement including fire, safety, drones, K-9 and more!

This family-friendly, community event will provide a number of games and entertainment for all ages, including a dunk tank, bubbles station, kid’s games, and DJ music.
