Yakima city crews will be busy next week with water line work on North 40th Avenue. The work will result in traffic restrictions on North 40th Avenue between Summitview Avenue and Lincoln Avenue starting Monday, May 17, through Thursday May 20. Work on the project will begin at 7:00 a.m. and last until 3:30 p.m. each day. City officials say traffic will be limited to one lane in both directions in the area where the work in happening.
Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.
The repairs may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005 for more information.
City crews will also be busy next week at the intersection of Nob Hill Boulevard and 3rd Avenue. City officials say the intersection will be closed overnight starting Monday night, May 17th, through Thursday, May 20th. Why the closure? It's needed because of an asphalt grinding project in the intersection. The intersection will be closed during project from 6:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, May 17 through May 20.
Detours will be in place during the project work hours. .

"Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

Because of heavy traffic volume, drivers can expect delays in the project area.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies."
