Confusing Statement at the Safeway Gas Pumps Has Everyone Questioning Everything

I love Safeway in Yakima. I'm there pretty regularly and use those reward points to get cheaper gas. In today's gas economy, you gotta do anything you can to save at the pump. Today was I met with a confusing sign that took me a few times to read to kinda get what was going on.

As the sign states:

"There is a current on going global issue with gas points. There is a chance you may not be able to claim and use your gas points at this time. We apoligize for any inconvenience."

As it states, it's basically saying that your reward points may or may not work when you try to claim and redeem them at the gas pump. Now, my number worked fine and was able to save money at the pump so I'm good but others may not be as lucky.

If it's not supposed to say global issues with gas prices, I wonder if Safeway stores around the country are having this same issue with some points not being able to be redeemed. Hard to say one way or another. Hopefully the issue gets fixed for many because with these gas prices we need all the help we can get.
