If you live in Yakima's West Valley, you may have seen this new "couple" around--they are two adorable Mallard ducks. First spotted at our radio station building, they were strolling around our campus grounds.

Each day, we seem to find them hanging out, always together near our building up here on 40th. But one day, they seemed to vanish—where did they go?

The very next day, I opened the door to my home near 40th Ave and saw the duck pair having a casual morning stroll.

One of them is a male duck (they have green heads) and the other, a female Mallard, does not. These adorable ducks are never far apart, which suggests they are mates for the season. They always stay very close to one another.

Be careful! Big Brother Duck is watching you,ha!

Confronting the Ducks

Now, I would never encourage anyone to disrupt or attempt to touch ducks in any way. I will say that they seem, for the most part, very calm around humans. They seem to have no issue walking right past you on their morning strolls!

What The Duck!?

Ducks, like most birds, typically migrate, so this migration season they seem to have chosen the 40th Ave neighborhood to be their home. Who can blame them for wanting to hang out at our radio stations? We only have the best tunes in town!

These two little ducks are so adorable together, we are thinking of changing the mascot to one of our stations…

Partners in Love Quack

If you see these beautiful little creatures, do not attempt to pet or disturb them—just enjoy their beauty, as they seem to have made our little area home. To Yakima’s newly quacktastic couple, welcome to the neighborhood!
