The 'Deliver Us From Evil' trailer might feel a little familiar, but that's what happens when you have a horror film as successful as 'The Conjuring' -- everyone is going to want to copy that success. Here Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn and 'Community' star Joel McHale deal with the supernatural that's based on a real-life story.

The horror genre reacts to success faster than anyone, but that has everything to do with its production schedule. Most blockbusters take at least two or three years to hit the big screen, which is why we're still feeling the influence of 'The Dark Knight''s dark and gritty approach (on top of the Joker's master plan to be captured in the middle of the movie) years after the film's success, where horror films are generally done for much less money and with much shorter shooting schedules, which allows horror franchises like 'Saw' and 'Paranormal Activity' to churn out a sequel every year.

Whether 'Deliver Us From Evil' is as effective as 'The Conjuring' has yet to be seen, but with a July 2 release date it's definitely following in its footsteps. Here's the film's synopsis:

New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes.  He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city.  Inspired by the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.

UPDATE: The international trailer for 'Deliver Us From Evil' is (sort of) way better and more freaky than the US one. Check it out below.
