A fire at Washington Potato prompted the evacuation of several homes in the Warden area Thursday evening. The fire destroyed a large commercial building at the plant.

No one was injured in the blaze. The fire reportedly started in the processing plant's dehydrator at about 5:30 pm.

Warden Police and fire departments from Grant County and Adams County responded to the fire.

All those evacuated were permitted to return to their homes Friday morning.  Police ask that you respect all traffic barricades.

Firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the day.
