FREE FISHING This Weekend in Washington State! Spread the Word
Fishing: It's what's for dinner (or not, if you choose)!
Washington state is excited about its annual Free Fishing Weekend that's coming up June 12th and 13th. Has it been a while since you've been out fishing? Time to get back out into nature and indulge.
Normally, you have to first register for a WA Department of Fishing and Wildlife account in order to purchase a fishing license online. The fishing license fees will cost you anywhere from about $11 and some change for a day pass all the way up to around $70 for an annual pass. The annual pass lets you do all kinds of fishing from shellfish, saltwater, freshwater, and and seaweed fish.
I bought a Washington state Discover Pass last year and I think it's still valid, so perhaps I'll take my 10-year-old daughter Willow fishing this weekend. She loves to fish but neither one of us really knows how to use our fishing poles. I bought us some good ones from Bi-Mart but you can also find great rods around town at Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Cabela's out in Union Gap.
Don't forget the bait! I like to use the fake bait but Willow loves to use real worms. If you need some real worms, there's a man who sells them out of his house over there near the Target store. I think it's called Howard's House of Worms or something like that. We went there one day after work, close to around 5 o'clock in the evening and it felt really creepy walking through this guy's front yard just to ring the doorbell and ask for some worms. He sells them out of his garage. They are some great worms though!
Enjoy your fishing spree this weekend and I hope you catch a big ole fish! Special shout out to YakTriNews for the heads up about the Free Fishing Weekend!
