It's almost time to vote in the August 6 Washington primary election and your ballot will soon be waiting for you.

YOU CAN REGISTER TO VOTE TODAY

Ballots will be sent out soon and if you're not registered to vote you can register today. Voters in the state have no deadline which means you can register or update your address up to and including on election day and receive a ballot that same day.

MORE THAN 126,000 BALLOTS WILL BE SENT OUT THIS WEEK

Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says 126,641 ballots will be sent to registered voters in the county starting Friday, July 19. Along with ballots voters will also receive a Yakima County Voters Guide with more than 100 pages of information that Ross calls a "one stop shop" for voters. Depending on where you live it's a busy ballot with 102 candidates in 19 different offices including the Washington State Governors' race along with 4 special elections.

THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE WILL NOT BE ON THE PRIMARY BALLOT

Ross says don't look for the presidential race because that race will appear on the November ballot. Ross expects a turnout between 25% and 35%. That percentage is expected to grow during the November general election when Ross says he expects turnout to be between 85% and 95%.

YOU CAN DROP YOUR BALLOT IN THE MAIL OR A DROP BOX

Your ballot is due on election day, August 6. You don't need a stamp to drop your ballot in the mail. You can also place your ballot in a drop box located in many areas throughout the county. You can find a location of a drop box near you by clicking this link.
