Sending a message. That's what Yakima Police Officers say they're doing through the ongoing speed patrols. It's the reason why Lt. Chad Janis says not everyone receives a citation when stopped by a patrol Officer.

A MAJORITY OF DRIVERS ARE GETTING WARNINGS

A lot of people are getting the message as the speed patrols continue into the fall and winter and not every driver is getting ticketed. Janis says the patrols are designed to let drivers know they need to slow down and stop for red lights. He says warnings can have just as much of an impact as a citation for many drivers.
