Shoppers in Portland Are Curious About Getting $200 from WinCo Foods
Why could some WinCo shoppers in Portland be possibly getting $200?
There are three WinCo locations in Portland, with thousands of shoppers stopping by to save money every day.
WinCo is an employee-owned store with a great reputation for grocery savings, yet there is a class-action lawsuit that is making some customers curious about a refund.
I don't get to shop at WinCo as much as I'd like to, but when I go, I always stock up on juice, meat, and nuts. If you haven't shopped at a WinCo yet, just remember that some WinCo stores will not accept any credit cards as payment. I found this out the hard way!
WHAT IS THE WINCO CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN PORTLAND ABOUT?
WinCo has denied any negligence alleged by the class action lawsuit that claims customers in Portland were being charged unfairly for additional tax surcharges.
The alleged surcharge goes against the Oregon Unlawful Trade Practices Act.
The company has settled the claims and some WinCo customers will be receiving a check in the mail that's worth up to $200.
The WinCo settlement was for a $3,360,000 payment in the class action lawsuit, led by CPT Group.
Shoppers who hope to get that check quickly will have to wait until the payment has been granted and approved by a judge.
According to a report by The Oregonian, in order for Oregon shoppers to be eligible for the settlement payout, you must have paid a surcharge for non-grocery items during the time period of June 2019 and May 8, 2022.
