Yakima Blood Drive Seeks Donors to Prevent Critical Shortages

When was the last time you gave the gift of life?
The American Red Cross is looking for donors to give blood or platelets now to help maintain a healthy blood supply in the region.

A SPECIAL GIFT FOR YOUR GIFT

They're looking for donors of all blood types, especially those with types O positive and B negative blood. As a result of you giving the gift of life you'll get a gift for yourself. A press release says this month the "Red Cross and PEANUTS are once again joining forces to remind people that a little good goes a long way."

A GOLDEN TICKET?

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of PEANUTS, those who give blood Aug. 29-Sept. 21 will get a Red Cross PEANUTS "mystery bag" with one of four special T-shirt designs. Red Cross officials say each design is different and you won't know which one you'll get until you open the bag. Also there are a number of golden tickets in random bags throughout the country. If you find a golden ticket you'll have a chance to redeem the ticket through an online form for all four T-shirts!

You can schedule a time to give blood today by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
Red Cross officials say make an appointment today because schedules get busy in the fall and weather changes making it tougher to keep appointments to give blood.
Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, weather canceled about 1,500 blood drives, causing more than 40,000 blood donations to go uncollected.
