The Top 4 Sports Baby Boomers Are Playing in The Sunshine State
California has a diverse population and great weather and that makes a great recipe for a long list of sport activities that many in the state love. But what are the top 4 sports enjoyed by Baby Boomers in the state?
IT'S LIKELY YOU'VE HEARD AND EVEN PLAYED THE NUMBER ONE SPORT IN CA
The number one growing sport among boomers is pickleball. State officials say the sport is growing by leaps and bounds literally and that the state will need to spend $131 million for court construction over the next 5 to 7 years to keep up with demand.
FOOTBALL STANDS RIGHT ALONGSIDE PICKLEBALL FOR THE MOST POPULAR SPORTS
Before pickleball became popular the number one sport among boomers in California was and frankly still is football. The sport is a national pastime and with the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in the state it's no surprise that football is so popular.
BASKETBALL IS NUMBER THREE ON THE MOST POPULAR SPORTS
With pros like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors playing and the many outdoor courts in the state it's like a magnet to people in California.
FROM LAND TO WATER SPORTS
But while many of the most popular sports are on land the fourth on the list of the most popular sports among boomers is surfing. Many older Americans who call California home find they can still comfortably surf despite their age.
DON'T FORGET SKATEBOARDING EVEN AMONG BABY BOOMERS
And age isn't keeping baby boomers in California off of skateboards. However many say they've now switched to longer boards. Thousands of skateparks are located all around the state which is the "birthplace of modern skateboarding."
While baby boomers in the state may be getting older many who skateboarded as kids are now passing on skills to the younger generations.
