Could this be the oldest house in Yakima? According to some sources, this is the oldest house, if not one of the oldest. It's tucked away behind a bunch of big old pine trees. They are probably just as old as the house is!

North 9th Street: One of the Oldest Streets in Yakima

Back in the day when the town of Yakima was just a baby, a few years after some squabbles between the townsfolk and a railroad tycoon, somebody built this house on North 9th Street. The year was 1890.

Today, the property of this Victorian-style home rests on .35 acres and was most recently notable for being a place where you could stop and buy some live earthworms and other hand-crafted stuff for fishing lure. Did you get a chance to meet Mr. Nowlin? He named his business, "Bob's Flies." I heard that he passed away a few years back. RIP.

According to local town lore (and yakima.wa.gov), this house is listed on the Yakima Register of Historic Places.

"The residence is an architecturally significant example of a Queen Anne cottage in Yakima. Built between 1888 and 1890, the house reflects Victorian folk architecture typical of the city’s first period of development (1885-1900)." YakimaWA.gov
