So many stores seem to keep changing policy to keep up with times as well as demand.

I remember when I saw my first self-checkout in Seattle in the late '90s. I was shocked as I asked myself things like 'how do they know people are telling the truth?' or 'what if someone just decides not to pay?' So much trust in these stores.

Well, I quickly learned there are cameras everywhere as well as an attendant to help with ID checks and all that. Neat idea! Especially if you just have a couple of items.

Then as time went on, some people got the attitude of they want someone to scan their items for them as that's their job. I'm cool with it. I still do that if I have a shopping cart full of items.

Then there are places like WinCo where they scan your items and you bag them up. I used to bag items so I don't mind and it gives my kids a chance to help.

WinCo did introduce a self-check section later which, again, is handy if you just have a few times but now it seems they're starting to remove the self-check stands from WinCo at least in Oregon where a Redditor lamented about having to wait 40 minutes to be checked out due to the much longer lines after removing the self-checkout area.

in the Reddit thread others were mentioning similar stories as well.
Not sure if it's a nationwide thing but I could see Washington doing this soon, too.
They may already have and I just haven't noticed it here in Yakima yet? Sometimes to keep an eye out for all the same.
