New Mexican Restaurant in Town Has the Best Quesabirria Ever
First of all, what is a quesabirria? And how fast can I put it in my belly?
I'm glad you asked.
Quesabirria means cheese... birria. Kind of like a cross between a taco and a quesadilla these are melty cheese (like mozzarella) with a stewed meat in a tortilla. Then folded over and fried and may include a beef broth for dipping.
Yeah, they're super excellent. It's what I ordered at the new place in town, Grand Monarcha, off 66th and Nob Hill. Between Walmart and Walgreens in West Valley.
It was my first time there and didn't know what to order. They had a huge menu full of great options. Sure, I could have went safe with carne asada and was delighted to see they have menudo on the menu but, as I never know what to order in time (I can read a menu for hours) I went with the quesabirria and I'm so glad I did. It was three of these beauties along with that broth to dip and was the perfect way to go. I'll have a hard time not ordering this a second time on my next visit to Grand Monarcha but we'll see. They also have a drive-up window so that might make it easier if I just order them to go. Too much good stuff at this place. Can't wait to return.
