Back in my Army days, when we took a break from training, the Sergeants used to say "smoke 'em if you got 'em" and those who had cigarettes would light up.  (of course that later led to us having to do a cigarette butt clean up patrol but I digress)

Today, during this pandemic season, it would seem that  "smoke 'em if you got 'em" takes on a different meaning.  Right now 15 states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana. Illegal marijuana is still available too. And more people are taking advantage.

So, with clubs being closed, a new study from New York University finds that recreational drug users have ditched “party drugs” like cocaine, ecstasy, and LSD in favor of more marijuana.

Researchers found 78.6 percent of those surveyed reported using less cocaine, 71.1 percent said they cut down on their use of ecstasy, and 68 percent reported taking less LSD.

Overall, 35 percent of those who take party drugs reported consuming more weed, while 33 percent said they were using the same amount as before the lockdown.

The DailyMail reports this echoes the findings of research done worldwide, that shows overall people are using more marijuana during the coronavirus lockdown for various reasons.
