The COVID lockdown may have temporarily robbed you of the ability to go out to your favorite restaurants, but starting Saturday the FOOD IS BACK!!

It's the 4th edition of Yakima's Restaurant Week and the expanded list of grub hubs is just waiting! (Covid canceled the third year just days ahead of opening)

The Uhlman Brothers,( no not the Allman Brothers) Matt and Mike grew up in Yakima, went off to college and came back to raise families in the Yakima Valley.  Along their travels they noticed the success and promotional value of "food weeks" in various cities around the country.  They both participated in the Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Yakima program and Mike's class came up with the idea of Restaurant week.

In 2018 there were around a dozen places willing to showcase their food skills at $15 and $25 price points.  It was delicious, popular and it grew.  This year's event starts Saturday April 3rd and runs for two weeks with nearly 50 restaurants from Naches to Prosser serving up their tasty best.

The idea is to get you to try some new places to which you might return again and again.  Most of us have "our spots" where we go on a regular basis to get what we know we love.  Restaurant Week encourages a little experimentation and perhaps the discovery of new favorites.  To hear Mike and Matt Uhlman talk about it, there are some mighty good meals to be had in some unlikely or unknown places.

The website has a link to the participants menus.  We've checked it out and it's going to be difficult to chose which place to visit first!   "Yakima Valley Restaurant Week is normally a week long celebration to promote local eateries doing special food items at $15, $25, or $35 price points....This year, we have decided to extend the celebration an extra week as a recovery effort to help aid our local restaurants that were negatively impacted by the pandemic....It will be a long road for them, but they cannot do this without the help of our local community members like YOU....So come on and check out the special dine-in and takeout menus our restaurants have put together for you."
