Seahawks and Washington Trade for Defensive Back Quinton Dunbar

He wanted out of Washington, so welcome to Seattle, Quinton Dunbar.

Dunbar, who has griped that he wanted out of the dumpster fire that is the NFL franchise in D.C. for some time, finally got his wish as the Seahawks were happy to accommodate his hopes for a trade.

Seattle sends a fifth-round draft pick to Washington as compensation.

Dunbar, 27, had 37 tackles and four interceptions in 11 games for Washington last season. He’s set to make $3.25 million during the 2020 season, which is the final year of his current contract. Washington will take on $1 million in dead money as a result of the trade.

Dunbar is the first addition to the secondary in Seattle since the start of the new league year. Shaquill Griffin and Tre Flowers remain on hand after leading the team’s cornerbacks in playing time last year. Many see the addition of Dunbar as a demotion for Flowers who struggled mightily at times over the course of games where the receiver he was responsible for kept getting targeted.

Dunbar's addition should address that issue as Quinton comes to Seattle with a reputation of a smother cover-guy, exactly the type of player Pete Carroll likes on defense.
