It seems like we are entering a period of transition in the Star Wars galaxy. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will end the franchise’s original saga once and for all. After that, the movies will supposedly take a break for a couple years, with a new emphasis on television shows on Disney+ like Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. And that seems like it means the existing TV series are going away — like Star Wars Resistance, which will conclude after its upcoming second season.

Watch the new Season 2 trailer above; here’s the show’s synopsis:

The Emmy Award-nominated series Star Wars Resistance returns for its second and final season beginning Sunday, October 6 at 10:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel and in DisneyNOW, with subsequent airings on Disney XD. The concluding season takes place during the events of "The Last Jedi" leading up to "The Rise of Skywalker," as Kaz and the team continue to fight against the threat of the First Order, culminating in an epic series finale.

Two seasons is an unusually short run for a Star Wars animated series. Rebels got four seasons; the CG animated The Clone Wars lasted for seven seasons, and even Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars got three seasons in the early 2000s. But if your show is tied to The Rise of Skywalker, and The Rise of Skywalker is coming out and tying a bow on that whole era of Star Wars stories, that sort of means you need to finish your story too.
