Watch the Trailer for DC’s New ‘Stargirl’ Series

Here’s the new cinematic trailer for Stargirl, an upcoming CW drama by Geoff Johns based off the DC Comics superhero of the same name. Brec Bassinger (Bella and the Bulldogs, The Haunted Hathaways) stars as Courtney Whitmore, an average high schooler who learns a not-so-average secret. Her stepdad, played by Luke Wilson, used to be superhero Starman’s sidekick. When Courtney discovers a mystical staff that activates to her touch, she begins to uncover the truth that she could be next in line to the Star-Throne.

The series will be produced by Greg Berlanti, known for his work on other DC Arrowverse shows for the CW including Supergirl, The Flash, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow. The Stargirl trailer promises exceptional, movie-grade cinematography and plenty of relatable family drama to boot in just a one-minute clip. It’s safe to say, our interests are piqued.

The stars are aligning for Stargirl to become the next hit for DC Comics. With the announcement of the disbanding of Marvel's TV division, fans of the superhero television genre should be eager to jump into a new series, even if it means crossing from Marvel to DC. Plus, DC has done a lot of work to shape up its reputation, both in movies and TV. DC Comics continues to prove itself as the new face of risk-taking, bold content (by essentially doing everything Marvel isn’t), and Stargirl follows suit. Literally; Stargirl’s suit is pretty badass.
