The Downtown Athletic Club only invited three candidates to this year's ceremony to award the top player in college football the most prestigious trophy of all - the Heisman.

Three quarterbacks from Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio State - Tua Tagovailoa, Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins, respectively - sought to become the 82nd winner of the award, first handed out in 1935.

Announced just moments ago in a live, nationally televised broadcast on ESPN, KYLER MURRAY was announced as the 2018 recipient.

Murray follows in the footsteps of last year's winner, Baker Mayfield, also a quarterback from Oklahoma.

The University of Oklahoma pulled in to a tie with The Ohio State University as well as Notre Dame for most Heisman award winners with seven for each school.
