Former Van Halen members Michael Anthony, Gary Cherone and Sammy Hagar reunited onstage in Boston Tuesday (May 28) to deliver a live rendition of Led Zeppelin staple "Rock and Roll." Watch some fan-captured video of the collaborative performance down toward the bottom of this post.

The reunion preceded the May 29 release of the "Affirmation" music video from the Circle, Hagar's act with Anthony, Vic Johnson and Jason Bonham, the son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. The song hails from the Circle's album Space Between, issued earlier this month. You can also see that video below.

Cherone was Van Halen's lead vocalist for a short time surrounding 1998's Van Halen III, when he replaced Hagar in the band. Hagar fronted Van Halen following David Lee Roth's 1985 departure, until he left the Eddie Van Halen-led group in 1996. Cherone, also the singer of Extreme, joined Extreme bassist Pat Badger in attending the Tuesday night gig at the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion, as seen in a photo shared by Hagar.

"Thank you Boston for a great show tonight!," Anthony wrote alongside a portrait of the assembled musicians he posted online the following day. "Great to see my brothers Gary and Pat, love you guys!"

Last year, a Van Halen reunion of the band's classic lineup was rumored to include Anthony, but the bassist quickly quashed the talk. However, Hagar later seemed to confirm the rumors by indicating Van Halen reached out to Anthony about the whispered comeback. Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, has held the bassist position in the iconic glam metal group since their 2007 reunion with Roth.
