You know things are starting to get back to normal when you start hearing about summer events that are planned for the Yakima area and aren't being cancelled because of the pandemic. Officials at the Yakima Vintiques car club have announced the 47th annual Vintiques Car show will be held August 5-8 at State Fair Park in Yakima. The show, Vintiques Nationals will have more than 600 custom cars and vendors. It's the second largest event held at the fairgrounds and brings in over $1,000,000 of tourist money into the community over it's 4 day run.

A press release says the Vintiques are a non profit charitable organization in Yakima promoting the car collector hobby and raising money for organizations such as Children's Wishes and Dreams and Rods house. They also sponsor several scholarships such as the YVC Automotive Scholarship that offers scholarships to students in the YVA automotive program.

But before the Vintiques Nationals in August there's some big events planned. The first event is the Spring Fair Food Fest. It opens Thursday, June 10th, 3:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. ; Friday, June 11th, 11:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 12th 11:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m.;Sunday, June 13th, 11:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m. State Fair park officials say it will be a drive-thru experience, with a new outdoor picnic area. New food vendors have been added.
The 4th of July celebration is back.
The City of Yakima and Yakima County Commissioners have stepped up to fund the 2021 4th of July fireworks display.
The fireworks and parking are free. A three-day carnival, along with food vendors and entertainment, will be part of the celebration this year.
Then the year will end with the annual 2021 Central Washington State Fair. The fair is set for September 24-October 3 with this year’s theme, “Celebrating Together Again.”
