We all know that one great way to beat the heat wave is to plan for activities inside. Why not try the Symphony?

The Yakima Symphony Orchestra has not been letting pandemic shutdowns keep them from making sweet music and lately, they have been offering some shows for the public. You can check out one of the upcoming shows inside the Yakima Convention Center (which has been undergoing a humongous remodel, so we've seen) at 10 N 8th Street in downtown Yakima.

There is a show for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday of this week, according to their listing at VisitYakima.com. Tickets are 20 dollars each.

If you want to catch the Tuesday showing, you'll be riveted by a performance from a brass quintet. Lux Aeterna: Brass Reflections: Tuesday, July 20th. Two shows: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

If you are more of a wind instrument or piano person, the Symphony's show on Wednesday is your best bet with "Wind Song". Featuring Hal Ott on the flute, Brent Hages on the oboe, and another local favorite, Anne Schilperoort, on the piano. Two showings, one at 2 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday will be packed with a percussion ensemble, "YSO Percussion: Inside Jams." Catch the matinee at 2 p.m. or the evening show at 7:30 p.m.

If you can't make any of the Yakima Symphony shows this week, don't fret, there are others planned for next week as well. Check out the event schedule at YSOMusic.org.
