An early morning fire displaced seven Yakima residents and three dogs on Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported in the 1000 block of West Mead Avenue just before 5am.

According to a news release from the Yakima Fire Department on Tuesday:

Yakima Fire Department (YFD) firefighters were called to the scene at 4:40 am today. The fire started in a detached garage, extended to a motor home, then extended to a house. YFD crews were on the scene for more than two hours. One dog perished in the fire. There were no other injuries reported.

The fire reportedly did damage to a natural gas line into the home taking out two power lines.

The residents along with their pets are being attended to by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
