A 42-year-old Yakima man is in critical condition after being shot in a gang related drive-by shooting in the 1300 block of West Lincoln Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the home on West Lincoln shortly after 4:00 am Sunday

Yakima Police Capt. Jay Seely says officers were called to a home at about 4:06 am Sunday after getting 911 calls of shots fired in the area and a call of a gunshot victim. Police found the 42-year-old man, a known gang member in the home with a gunshot wound to his head. Officers and paramedics helped the man before he was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he remains in critical condition.

Police found 14 shell casings in front of the home and weapons inside

Detectives from the Yakima Police Department Major Crimes Unit and Gang Unit responded and are now investigating the shooting. 14 shell casings were found in front of the home and some witnesses were interviewed.
Detectives searched the home where the man was shot and found a semi-automatic pistol and an AR-15 rifle.

As previously reported Police are busy investigating 4 homicides in the city

Detectives from the Yakima Police Department continue to search for clues in 4 homicides reported in Yakima so far this year. Seely says they've made arrests in one of the homicides another is under investigation by the Yakima County Prosecutors Office to determine if the shooter will be charged. The first murder was reported in Yakima on January 6 when a man was shot by another man who claims he was being robbed in the parking lot of the east valley Walmart. No charges have yet been filed against the man who shot another man during a drug deal in the stores parking lot.
The second homicide was reported on January 11 at the Yakima Inn at 1022 North 1st Street. 38-year-old Clayton Peter Brown Jr. died after being shot in a room at the hotel. He was shot in the head. He lived at the hotel at the time of his death. No arrest has been made in that killing.

Police are still investigating the homicides hoping for tips

The third murder happened January 12 at an apartment on McKinley Avenue. Police arrested 25-year-old Antoinette Miller for the murder of her 4-year-old stepson. Police say she admitted strangling the boy after assaulting him. She's been charged with Second Degree Murder and is being held in the Yakima County jail.
The most recent shooting of a 71-year-old man was the fourth homicide reported in Yakima so far this year. Seely says they believe Gerald Moore was the target of the shooting that left him with multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach. He died the in driveway of his home on South 8th Street. There's no word from authorities on what lead to the shooting. No arrest has been made.
