Yakima Man Stabbed Monday In Critical Condition
Yakima Police are investigating a near fatal stabbing reported Monday leaving a 71-year-old man in critical condition. Yakima Police Officers were called to the 400 block of South Seventh Street at about 11:30 am Monday for a report of an assault where they found the man who has not been identified. The was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Police say he was rushed into surgery because of the injury. Police say even though the man was stabbed multiple times his condition has been upgraded from critical and is expected to survive.

No suspect or suspects have been arrested as the investigation continues.
After the report of the stabbing two nearby schools were placed on lockdown as the investigation was underway. Detectives with the Yakima Police Department Homicide Unit talked to neighbors and viewed footage from area security cameras as they search for answers and a suspect or suspects. Police say the stabbing was not gang related.
No other injuries were reported as the investigation continues today.
Saturday's Officer involved shooting remains under investigation
Meanwhile work continues by the Yakima Valley Special Investigative Unit into Saturday's officer involved shooting in which a suspect was shot in the hand after firing at officers. A press release says the "identity of the subject involved in the Officer involved shooting in the 2300 block of E Yakima Valley Hwy is Jorge Albarran He was released from the hospital and is currently being held at the Yakima County Jail on the charges of 1st degree Assault, Unlawful possession of a firearm and Posses stolen Firearm. No officers were injured in the shooting."
